Patient Satisfaction: Doctor vs. Nurse

1033 patients with no regular health care provider were randomly assigned to receive treatment from either a doctor or a nurse practitioner for primary and follow-up care after an emergency room or urgent care facility visit. Patients were interviewed 6 months later to assess their overall level of satisfaction with the care they had received. There were 389 patients assigned to see a doctor and 644 patients assigned to see a nurse practitioner. The satisfaction scores are based on a 5-point scale, where 5 is the most positive responses. The variable “Group” indicates whether a patient was assigned to see a doctor (Group = 1) or Nurse (Group = 2). The variable “Satisfaction” gives the satisfaction scores reported by the patients.
